Don’t you love a good movie? But they are becoming harder and harder to come by. As Hollywood continues to push the boundaries as to what is acceptable in our society as appropriate content, we as Christians are having to choose very carefully what we will watch. At the same time, organizations such as Sherwood Pictures and Provident Films, which produced movies such as “Fireproof” and “October Baby” are dedicated to producing more wholesome “faith” based options. But they are sponsored by denominations and the ‘faith’ they profess is not inline with scriptural teaching. But they not alone, in the producing of such films. Did you know that an organization from within our own brotherhood has produced a full-length motion picture?
World Video Bible School and WVBS Pictures have produced a film called, “Bound.“
It is a movie about a young woman who struggles with her life following the death of her mother. Set in Seattle, Washington as well as various points in Texas this film is a powerful movie about the redemptive love of Christ. It is available as a 2-set DVD. The film disc features the full-length, 125-minute movie plus an additional 90-minute Bible study. the second disc containing “Bonus Material” is a copy of the “Searching for Truth” DVD also produced by WVBS and contains an additional 4 hours of Bible Study.
Synopsis of Bound: A Faith-based movie
A moving story from loss and despair to help and hope. Bound, a story like no other, is about a young woman, Cheri Harper, whose life was filled with loss, struggle, despair, and bad choices. A set of unforeseen circumstances finds her the reluctant guest of a family who helps her face some very important decisions only to later believe she has been deceived. Unlikely friends come to her rescue and with their help she learns the truth, finds hope, and builds a faith that forever alters her life.
Bound to the world. Bound to man. Bound to God.
Gospel Broadcasting Network’s Executive Director, Don Blackwell has said of the film;
“A suspense filled, feel good movie. It kept my family watching, guessing and anticipating the outcome. Loved it!”
Ken Upchurch, an elder in the church, said:
“The videography, music, direction and actors all mesh together so well, I found myself captivated and rooting for the characters in this modern, ‘rescue the perishing’ story.”
The young woman in the movie is named Cheri Harper played by Stephanie Motal. Her life is filled with struggles and bad choices. She eventually becomes a guest in the home of a Christian family who seeks to teach her the truth in love and lead her to Jesus Christ. But, even after salvation she finds that life is still hard and she questions the love of God.
“Bound” has received The Dove Foundations “Family Approved Age12+” rating as well as the 2011 Best Feature Film by the Sequin Film Festival.
Since the movie is produced by WVBS you can be assured that the content is wholesome, however the storyline of the movie includes the young woman’s life before her conversion, thus making it appropriate only for older children and not for small children. The producers at WVBS see this a tool that faithful members of the church can use to open a dialogue with their friends regarding God, His word and the truth about salvation.

I’m interested in knowing more about this movie, so I’ll check it out. I have to admit, the trailer had no point, though. Thanks for the heads up!
