Work at Home Mom

Where Family and Business Unite

family & business

In our society we can often find it difficult to make a living on one family income. Have you considered that the Proverbs 31 woman provided for the financial resources of her family while maintaining her role as a homemaker by selling products that she made? We are also told she bought and sold land and made a profit from the wares of her vineyard, and that while doing so her husband safely trusted her.

Many stay at home wives and moms are finding that they too can help contribute to the family income by working from home using resources found on the internet. Today we want to tell you about one such woman.

Homemaker and Business Advertiser Providing for her Family

cararigs_1358138679_91Cara Riggles, wife of 23 years to Robert, is a homemaker, homeschooling mom, bargain hunter, blogger at Totally Temberton and online business owner. Striving to reflect the biblical roles that God has placed before her, she works in her online business efforts to help provide income to her family with Christian integrity. Like the Proverbs 31 woman, she works diligently in her role as a homemaker and in her role as an online entrepreneur. Through her efforts she works to ensure that her families needs are met and her “merchandise is good.”

Proverbs 31:11-18 (NKJV)

“The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.”

She shares on her blog posts related to her family’s life. She talks about homeschooling,  coupon deals and bargains she finds. As a blogger she found that she could use her blog page, as do most bloggers, to bring a little extra income to her family’s budget through advertisement sales, product reviews, and other blogging related events.

In 2011 she added to her online business efforts by becoming the owner/publisher of a web-site called Martinsville Macaroni Kid. This website and e-newsletter features family friendly activities in her local community. It is a part of a larger web network of over 500+ publishers. Through this web-site Cara is able to sell advertisement space while at the same time encouraging and supporting her local community. She sells ad space, to businesses in her local community, for both the web-site and the e-newsletter that is emailed to her subscribers.

Cara also is an independent consultant for Usborne Books and More  which is a company that sells children’s books through distribution of independent consultants.

Through her web efforts Cara seeks to bring extra income to her family’s budget. She does all of this while maintaining her roles as Christian wife, mother and homeschooling teacher. As you can see “she girds herself with strength” and most likely “her lamp does not go out by night.”

As a brotherhood of fellowship we can support and encourage Cara in the following ways:

  • Become a follower of her blog and social media sites. Businesses looking to advertise with her are concerned with the number of her stats. By simply following, subscribing, and liking her pages, you can help to increase her stats and make her site more appealing to potential advertisers. Doing this doesn’t cost you anything whatsoever, but can help her out tremendously. (This is true of any of the R16:16 bloggers).
  • When making purchases online, consider linking to various sites from her blog. Cara, like many bloggers, hosts affiliate links on her site. That means when you click from her site to an external site and make a purchase at the external site, she earns a small commission. Doing so doesn’t mean you pay extra for the product, only that she gets paid an affiliate fee for the hosted link.
  • Do you own a family friendly business? Consider advertising on her homeschool & family friendly blog Totally Temberton, or consider advertising on her local (Martinsville, Virginia) e-newsletter site, Martinsville Macaroni Kid.
  • Need books for your children? Cara would be happy to act as your independent consultant for Usborne Books.

You can find Cara at all of these online locations:

Totally Temberton Blog Button

With just a click of a follow button, like button, circle button or email subscription you can help Cara in her efforts to support her family. With a little collaboration through advertising, Cara can help you support your business efforts while you help her in hers.

Have you recently considered how YOU can support and encourage your brother or sister in the Lord in their efforts to provide for their family?
